You can check this yourself without waiting for anyone to publish a count. Steam’s search endpoint accepts a frame_compatibility filter, so append frame_compatibility=3 to a store search and the result header gives you a live total. That is how the 98 above was taken. It is a useful habit, because the tracked counts float around and a filter you can run yourself does not.
The curve so far: eight titles on July 17, 65 on August 10, 89 on August 24, 98 today.
The names changed more than the count did
Six weeks ago the list was Valve demos and a scattering of indies. It now includes Beat Saber, Job Simulator, Walkabout Mini Golf VR, Pistol Whip, Synth Riders, Red Matter 2, Moss II VR, The Room VR: A Dark Matter and all three I Expect You To Die games. Pavlov Shack is on there too, and that only reached Steam on August 21. So is The Light Brigade: Definitive Edition, whose final update from Funktronic Labs added Frame support and then the studio stopped.
That is not a launch list padded with tech demos. That is a chunk of the VR canon. Several of those entries also come from studios that had a hard year. Mighty Coconut and Kluge Interactive both cut staff in 2026. Schell Games had its first layoffs ever last Friday, and its whole trilogy now sits certified for a headset with no ship date.
Hold two things at once
Part of this curve is developers doing real work. Part of it is that the bar moved. On August 5 I reported that Valve cut the Verified requirement from 90 fps to 72. Drop a threshold by 20 percent and you get a wave of passes that has nothing to do with anyone optimizing anything. Both things are true. Neither cancels the other. A number that rises after the test gets easier is a weaker signal than the same number rising against a fixed test.
The composition needs a second caveat. Portal 2, Balatro, Hades, Hades II, Cuphead, Hollow Knight: Silksong and Brotato are all certified, and none of them is a VR game. Their badges cover flatscreen play on the device through Proton, Valve’s compatibility layer, with Frame controller support. So 98 certified titles is emphatically not 98 VR games, and anyone quoting the headline number without that sentence attached is selling you something. Valve’s own The Lab, the 2016 VR minigame collection, is still marked Unsupported.
What the catalog still cannot tell you is when any of this is purchasable. There is no price, no reservation date, and 26 days left in the summer window Valve named for itself. A filling shelf is a real signal and a weak one at once. That is the condition of every Steam Frame data point right now. The Great on Frame page is public. The filter is free to run.
