VZMore is a new entrant to the realm of mini PCs. The German brand has introduced a total of four of high-end systems, which will be showcased at IFA Berlin scheduled to be held early next month.
Two of the new mini PCs happen to be powered by high-end AMD chips, named the AX9 Max and the AX9 Ultra. If the spec sheets are to be believed, the mini PCs are clearly gearing up to take on the high-end performance segment.
The AX9 Max will be powered by the latest AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 “Gorgon Point” APU, whereas the Ultra variant will be powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 388 “Strix Halo” APU featuring the Radeon 8060S iGPU.
AX9 Max and Ultra: Zen 5-powered gaming mini PCs with hefty iGPUs
Given that the new Gorgon Point APUs are mostly identical to their Strix Point predecessors, the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 APU should be almost exactly as powerful as the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. In synthetic benchmarks, the new APU easily keeps up with the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H CPU, even managing to outshine it by a few percentage points.
The Ryzen AI Max+ 388, on the other hand, features an eight-core setup consisting solely of full-fat Zen 5 CPU cores. The chip is almost identical to the aforementioned Gorgon Point APU in synthetic benchmarks.
However, where the Strix Halo-equipped mini PC will truly shine, is in iGPU performance. The AI Max+ 388 APU packs the beastly Radeon 8060S iGPU with a total of 40 CUs. The Radeon 890M, on the other hand, features only 16 CUs.
In the real world, the Radeon 8060S is almost 3.5 times as powerful as the Radeon 890M in most synthetic benchmarks as well as gaming performance. In fact, the Radeon 8060S can even keep up with some RTX 5070 Laptop dGPUs found in laptops with comparatively modest power envelopes.

The I/O configuration of the VZMore AX9 Ultra gaming mini PC, however, has not yet been shared. Both the mini PCs feature a vapor chamber cooling setup. Storage requirements are handled by a single M.2 2280 slot and another M.2 2230 slot, both of the PCIe Gen 4 x4 variant.
The AX9 Max mini PC is already on sale over at VZMore’s website, priced at just under a rather steep $1,500 for the Ryzen AI 9 HX 470-equipped variant with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage.
Given that VZMore is still a relatively new player in the mini PC segment, customers are requested to practice caution before making their choice, or simply wait for third-party reviews to show up. In the meantime, folks on the lookout for a capable mini PC can check out the Geekom A9 Max, currently available for $1,440 on Amazon.
