Television actress Aditi Sharma has opened up about the domestic violence case she filed against her husband, actor Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, and his family. In conversation with Times Now, the actress spoke about the difficult phase she has been going through and the challenges involved in finding the strength to walk away from situations that cause emotional and physical distress.
Aditi’s complaint led to an FIR being registeredat Goregaon Police Station against Abhineet, his mother Urmila Kaushik and sister Kirti Kaushik. She has alleged physical and mental harassment, domestic violence, verbal abuse, character assassination and misuse of her stridhan. The allegations are currently being investigated by the police. No public response from the accused has been reported so far.
Aditi Sharma breaks silence on the case
According to the actress’ complaint, Aditi first met Abhineet during an online acting class in 2021. Their friendship eventually developed into a relationship, and the two began living together in Goregaon West in September 2024. They later got married on November 12, 2024, with the consent of both families.
However, Aditi has alleged that their relationship changed soon after marriage. She claimed that frequent arguments began over several issues, including her clothing. She also alleged that Abhineet would take money from her instead of contributing towards household expenses.
The actress has further claimed that an argument on January 1, 2025, escalated into abuse. She alleged that Abhineet subsequently became suspicious of her character, accused her of having an affair and regularly checked her phone. According to her complaint, he eventually began sleeping in a separate room and she was prevented from speaking to her parents.
Opens up about domestic abuse
Aditi has also accused her mother-in-law of retaining her wedding jewellery, including gold chains, rings, a diamond ring, mangalsutra and bangles. She alleged that despite repeatedly asking for the jewellery to be returned, it was not handed back to her. She also claimed that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law supported Abhineet during disputes.
Speaking about the experience, Aditi suggested that leaving a difficult situation is not always immediate or easy. Her remarks underline the emotional complexity involved in recognising when a relationship has become unhealthy and finding the courage to step away.
The police have registered the case and begun investigating the allegations. As the matter remains under investigation, the claims made by Aditiare allegations and have not been established in court.
