    23 August,2026 11:25 AM IST |  Mumbai  |  mid-day online correspondent

Kangana Ranaut shared a story, hitting back at Taapsee Pannu`s remarks over her `upbringing`, calling the latter a `sasti copy`. However, the actress deleted the story later

Actor and MP Kangana Ranaut, who has been in the news over her Gen Z comments, recently hit back at actor Taapsee Pannu on Saturday evening by sharing two Instagram stories targeting the actress over a recent comment about her. Notably, the two have a years-long feud. However, Kangana deleted the stories later.

Kangana Ranaut hits back at Taapsee Pannu

On Saturday evening, Kangana shared an Instagram Story without directly naming Taapsee. She instead shaded an actor whom she called a ‘sasti copy.’ Notably, she had used the tag to refer to Taapsee earlier.

“One Sasti copy is out and about with her upcoming B grade film but as usual only headline point with the media is Kangana Ranaut, but today she crossed all limits shamelessly ridiculing my upbringing /parents, I think all parents do their best and I never bring any parents in to any argument, but today I also want to ask her parents why they couldn’t birth someone original like my parents did? Why a cheap Sasti copy? Feel sorry for your efforts,” Kangana wrote.

In her next story, Kangana shared a snippet of a news article about Taapsee’s comments. She went on to directly address her, saying, “This is so unfortunate and so wrong but she is not the only one many people who grew up in shady cramped up outskirts of cities in dingy rented apartments with questionable backgrounds and incomes often question my upbringing and malign my parents and background who hail from a renowned Rajput zameendar Family and raised by educated, distinguished parents. It was a personal choice for me to start from scratch why attack my parents for that.”

Notably, Kangana had posted the stories on her official Instagram account on Saturday evening. However, the stories were deleted by Sunday morning.

    Taapsee Pannu’s comments

Taapsee, who has been promoting her upcoming Netflix film, Gandhari, during a recent interview with India Today, spoke about her feud with Kangana, saying thatshe has never met her. “I haven’t met her. I didn’t meet her before when these so-called issues started. I haven’t met her now as well. My opinion on her is reflective of my upbringing and my way of talking, my way of perceiving things and hers… she stands by hers. So, I think that’s enough for everybody to look and decide who comes from where,” the actor said.

For the unversed, Taapsee and Kangana’s alleged feud started in 2019. It further intensified after Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, called Taapsee a “sasti copy” of Kangana. The exchange then escalated in 2020 when Kangana referred to Taapsee, along with others, as “B-grade actresses” and “needy outsiders” amid debates around nepotism. However, Taapsee maintained that despite their differences, she was ready to be friends with the actor.
