Nintendo cancels Kirby Air Riders Halloween event

Nintendo recently started up a new Halloween event for Kirby Air Riders, but it has now been cancelled.
The main menu and Paddock took on a special Halloween theme. During the event, players could earn event points to unlock Halloween-themed materials and cosmetics, including a ghost hat.
Unfortunately, players quickly noticed that the Kirby Air Riders Halloween event was very close to unplayable. You drop all boosts with one hit, which spawns all of them as items, and multiple people were getting hit per second. With so many items on screen, the game would freeze very often. The action would still be going on in the background while the screen is frozen, and during that time you’re just going straight forward and will almost always die or fall off the stage and lose all your boosts.
Nintendo recognized the issues and decided to cancel the event. The good news is that it will return at a later date – hopefully with all issues addressed.
In a statement on social media, Nintendo said:
We have confirmed an issue in the currently ongoing event “Trick or Treat!” where the screen temporarily freezes during gameplay. For this reason, we will be canceling this event.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
Additionally, we plan to hold the event again where this reward can be obtained. We will inform you again once the details are finalized.
