Bernice Liu has seemingly confirmed her romance with Hong Kong tycoon Frederick Lui, former chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.
The 47-year-old Canada-born former TVB actress attended the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation’s annual Pink Walk on Oct 25, where she was asked about her relationship with Lui, who’s 23 years her senior.
Rumours of their romance first popped up in July this year.
“I’m happy! Honestly, regardless of your gender, the most important thing is to be happy,” she told Hong Kong media at the event.
On whether there are any plans for marriage, she said there’s none at the moment but would inform everyone if there are “special happy events” on the horizon.
When asked if she minds a significant age gap with her partner, Bernice said “age has never been an issue”.
“What matters most is that two people get along,” she added.
Reporters also asked if Lui felt any pressure for the same reason, Bernice quipped: “I don’t know, you’d have to ask him that!”
Bernice, who was Miss Chinese Vancouver 2000 as well as Miss Chinese International 2001, joined TVB in 2001 and left in 2011. She continued to star in more dramas up until 2019, including the Singapore series Lion Mums (2015-2017).
She owns the wine company Bellavizio, which she founded in 2008, as well as cold-brew coffee company Qi Concepts.
She had previously been linked to Hong Kong actor Hawick Lau and dated Moses Chan, and her last publicly known romance was with Hong Kong billionaire businessman Calvin Lo, whom she reportedly broke up with in 2018.
