With the confirmation that Season 8 will be its last, All American will conclude a massive legacy output deal Netflix held with The CW throughout the 2010s and bring that to an end for good. Here’s the latest on Season 8 of All American, when you can expect it to stream on Netflix, what the final episodes are about, and when the series will eventually leave

On the air since 2018, All American is the football drama created by April Blair (who is also working with Netflix on Ransom Canyon season 2 as we speak) that has outlasted every peer from its generation on The CW. With over 100 episodes in the can, the series chronicled Spencer James’ journey from high school to the NFL, before pivoting to an ensemble cast including Jordan, Layla, Coop, and a new generation of Crenshaw and Beverly Hills students.
Here is the current release schedule, what to expect from the final season, and our prediction for when the final season hits Netflix.

All American Season 8 Will Be The Final Season

Following months of speculation regarding the show’s future, The CW confirmed in June 2025 that All American would conclude with Season 8

“All American is one of the greatest CW shows of all time and we are honored to bring it back for one final season to give fans a chance to say a meaningful goodbye to these inspiring characters and this incredible world,” said Brad Schwartz, President of The CW Network at the time of the renewal

Showrunner and executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll also issued a touching statement regarding the show’s conclusion:

“How do you say goodbye to family? Because that is what these characters, these actors, this All American crew and staff are after eight beautiful, hard-fought seasons together. Family. This was the question on repeat for all of us as we crafted this final season with long hours, lots of love, and even more tears. And what we realized was that just like when your kids grow up and finally leave home, this wasn’t goodbye… It was a tear-filled ‘I’ll see you soon.’”

Filming on Season 8 originally kicked off in August 2025 in Los Angeles, with the cast having a massive blowout party when the series wrapped in mid-December 2025.
The renewal ensures the series avoids the fate of its spinoff, All American: Homecoming, which was canceled and concluded with its third season in 2024. As the only remaining scripted series from the network’s legacy deal with Netflix, All American holds a unique place in streaming history

What is Season 8 of All American about?

The final season is shaking up its format. Picking up six months after the football cliffhanger at the end of Season 7, the entirety of Season 8 will span just one single week in the lives of the Beverly and Crenshaw crew. School is almost out for the summer, but it’s a pivotal week that will reunite friends and enemies and alter the course of their futures forever

The final season’s core cast features Michael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Bre-Z, Osy Ikhile, Alexis Chikaeze, Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, Antonio J. Bell, Kareem Grimes, and Lauryn Hardy

When will All American Season 8 air on The CW?

The long wait is finally coming to an end. The CW has confirmed that Season 8 will kick off with a special two-hour premiere on Monday, July 13, 2026 (8:00–10:00 p.m. ET/PT).
    The two-part premiere consists of:

    • Episode 801: “Rewind” (8:00 p.m.) – Exploring the fallout of the playoff game six months prior, this episode sees Cassius and KJ fighting for their joint future, while KJ’s rising intensity worries his loved ones and sweeps Khalil up in its wake. Meanwhile, Jordan and Cassius attempt to build a family relationship.
    • Episode 802: “There Is No Competition” (9:00 p.m.) – Jordan struggles to reconnect with Layla, and Cassius is determined to prove he’s the right coach for Beverly. Amina makes a sudden reappearance that throws Khalil and KJ off balance right before the Showcase, stirring up unresolved feelings and jealousy. Meanwhile, Coop is thriving with new professional opportunities.

As with the previous season, this final run will consist of 13 episodes in total

Prior to the premiere, The CW also aired an hour-long retrospective titled All American: End of Series on June 22, looking back at the show’s most memorable moments

When will All American Season 8 be on Netflix?

All American remains the final title under the legacy output deal between The CW and Netflix. Under this agreement, seasons typically drop on Netflix US exactly 8 to 9 days after the season finale airs on TV.
This pattern has remained consistent for years:

    • Season 7: Finale on May 5, 2025 → Netflix release on May 13, 2025
    • Season 6: Finale on July 15, 2024 → Netflix release on July 23, 2024
    • Season 5: Finale on May 15, 2023 → Netflix release on May 23, 2023

With Season 8 consisting of 13 episodes and kicking off with a two-episode premiere on July 13, there will be 11 weeks of broadcasting left (assuming there are no major hiatuses). This places the series finale in late September 2026. Therefore, our rough estimation is that Season 8 will drop on Netflix US in early to mid-October 2026

Note: It is currently unclear if the hour-long retrospective, “All American: End of Series,” will also be packaged and sent to Netflix alongside the final batch of episodes

How long will All American stay on Netflix?

Because this is the final season, the “legacy deal” clock officially starts ticking once Season 8 is added. Historically, titles from this CW/Netflix agreement remain on the platform for five years after the final season is added

This means you can expect All American to remain available to stream on Netflix US until approximately late 2031
