On Friday, Steve Jackson Games announced that Steve Jackson was stepping down as CEO and assuming a game dev role once more.
It is the end of one era, and the beginning of another for Steve Jackson Games. This past Friday, the company announced that Steve Jackson would be stepping down as CEO of the longtime publisher to focus instead on game design and development. In his place, a new CEO has already been named, alongside a new COO, both of whom are longtime pillars at SJ Games. Let’s take a look.

Steve Jackson Steps Down As CEO, Sabrina Gonzalez Steps Up
The announcement came Friday afternoonany’s blog, the Daily Illuminator, which you can find right here. Let’s get right to the announcement:
“Steve Jackson, founder and President of Steve Jackson Games, is stepping down as CEO to focus on game design and development. Long-time staff member Sabrina Gonzalez has become the CEO of SJ Games.
Long-time SJ Games staff member Sabrina Gonzalez has become our new Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Editor Allison Page is now our Chief Operating Officer.”

It’s short and sweet, but it goes on to explain that the new CEO, Sabrina Gonzalez, has been with the company since 2013, apart from a brief hiatus in 2025 to get into game manufacturing. Gonzalez has filled many roles at SJ Games over the years, including Production Artist and Production Manager, as well as having served on the Board of Directors since 2021. On the SJ Games’ blog, Gonzalez outlines her hopes for the company:
“As a general goal, I’d like us to continue to grow. We weathered the pandemic and pivoted project plans to address continually changing tariffs. The goal is always to make great games that people love. I want to continue developing new titles for future generations of gamers and also support (and sometimes update) the classics that our fans continue to request.”

The new COO, Allison Page, is newer to the company, having only joined back in 2023, when she came on as Managing Editor from a background close to my heart, being the Executive Artistic Director for a sketch comedy club. However, both are prepared to fulfill their new roles and look forward to supporting SJ Games in its new era.
As for what games Jackson will be designing/developing, that’s sure to come in the future. So keep an eye out for whatever comes next from Steve Jackson Games.
Best of luck to the new CEO and COO!
