    • The 2001 live-action series The Tick, based on Ben Edlund’s comic book series, is now available for streaming on Netflix.
    • The show, starring Patrick Warburton as the titular character, originally aired on Fox in 2001 and was later rebooted for Amazon in 2016.
    • Despite facing tough competition and being canceled after only eight episodes, The Tick has maintained a strong fan following and received high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix subscribers can once again stream one of the most acclaimed superhero satires ever made. Adapted from Ben Edlund’s comic book series from the 1980s and 1990s, the live-action sitcom first aired on Fox in 2001

Which cult classic superhero comedy TV show just landed on Netflix today?

The 2001 live-action series The Tick begins streaming on Netflix today, July 8, 2026. Edlund’s cult classic sitcom was available on the streaming platform until its license expired in 2015. Now, the Patrick Warburton-led series is making its return. The series was also rebooted in 2016 for Amazon, and that version is also scheduled to premiere on Netflix

The synopsis of The Tick reads, “Crime-fighting superhero the Tick (Patrick Warburton) confronts evildoers with help from his unassuming (and underachieving) sidekick.”

Alongside Patrick Warburton in the title role, the series also starred David Burke as Arthur, Liz Vassey as Captain Liberty, and Nestor Carbonell as Batmanuel. Other notable cast members included William Newman, Charley Rossman, Maury Ginsberg, and Ron Perlman

Despite its widespread popularity, The Tick had to face tough competition from similar time-slot shows like Survivor: Africa and other NBC’s Must See TV shows. Fox canceled the series after airing only eight of its nine produced episodes in 2002. Lower viewership and high production costs also hindered the makers from giving the series another run

The Tick earned an 88% Tomatometer and a 90% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. Due to strong fan demand, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment released a DVD containing the complete series. Although by 2013 all the prints were either discontinued or out of print, Mill Creek Entertainment rereleased the DVD series in 2014

Edlund also served as one of the executive producers alongside Barry Josephson, Barry Sonnenfeld, Larry Charles, and David Sacks
