What to know about the Quaker State 400
Can Chase Elliott do it again at EchoPark?
The defending Quaker State 400 winner returns to a track where he pulled off one of the most dramatic victories of 2025. With help from teammate Alex Bowman, Elliott made a last-lap pass in a race that featured a staggering 46 lead changes. Superspeedway racing is always unpredictable, but Elliott’s ability to put himself in position at the end makes him an obvious favorite storyline heading into Sunday night’s race. A repeat win would be a huge statement as the season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
Chase Briscoe builds momentum at the perfect time
Fresh off his first Cup Series victory of the season in the inaugural eero 400 at Chicagoland Speedway, Briscoe heads to Hampton with plenty of confidence. He had to fend off a late charge from Christopher Bell to seal the win, showing both speed and composure under pressure. The big question now is whether Briscoe can turn one breakthrough victory into a sustained run of playoff-caliber performances. Another strong result would make him one of the hottest drivers in the garage
Impact of the In-Season Challenge
The Quaker State 400 serves as Round 3 of NASCAR’s In-Season Challenge, adding another layer of intrigue to an already chaotic superspeedway event. Drivers aren’t just racing for a trophy; they’re also trying to survive and advance in the bracket-style competition. That could lead to aggressive moves, bold drafting decisions, and some unexpected alliances as the field tackles 260 laps and 400.4 miles around EchoPark Speedway. In a race where one mistake can wipe out a dozen cars, balancing risk and reward will be critical.
Who wins the next superspeedway chess match?
EchoPark Speedway has a history of producing wild finishes, and last year’s race was proof that nobody can afford to relax until the checkered flag falls. Drivers like Elliott, Bowman, Bell, and Briscoe all have reasons to believe they can contend, but drafting races often create surprise contenders as well. With the playoffs approaching and the next stop at North Wilkesboro just around the corner, every point and every position matter. Expect plenty of lead changes, late-race drama, and another finish that could come down to the final lap.
