Justin Baldoni, Emily share video amid ongoing legal dispute
Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, shared an emotional video on Wednesday, breaking their silence nearly two years after the legal battle involving Blake Lively began. Justin began, “We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say.”
Baldoni continued, “We just know we need to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”
In the nearly five minute clip, the couple expressed their disbelief about the events that unfolded, which they described as being “disguised as a fight for women.” Emily admitted, “In that gratitude, it doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years. And we’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like, how could something like this even happen? Um, let alone disguised as a fight for women.”
She added, “And the truth is, reality is, is that there’s been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family. Um, which also makes it hard to speak.” Emily further stated that “the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves.”
As for how they’re doing, Justin said, “We are healing. If you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters. It’s this. It’s our family, it’s our friends, it’s our community, who have been there for us. It’s our faith.”
On a parting note, Justin and Emily thanked fans for supporting them
The video comes days after attorneys for Lively said in a court filing that Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, owes the actress USD 7,495,526.87 in attorneys’ fees
About Justin and Blake’s legal battle
The legal dispute between the former It Ends With Us co-stars began in December 2024, when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of the film, which he also directed. The two later filed competing lawsuits against one another. Baldoni accused Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and the couple’s publicist of defamation
Earlier this year, the judge dismissed most of Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively while allowing his retaliation claims against Lively’s public relations team to proceed. In May, Baldoni, through Wayfarer Studios, and Lively agreed to settle part of their ongoing dispute. Judge Liman ruled that Wayfarer Studios must pay Lively’s attorneys’ fees but denied Lively’s request for punitive damages
