Walking Round The 1950’s DC Comics Booth At San Diego Comic-Con Booth

Walking Round The 1950’s DC Comics Booth At San Diego Comic-Con… but where on Kandor is Supergirl?

    Article Summary

    • DC Comics Booth at San Diego Comic-Con turns back the clock to the 1950s, kicking off DC’s decade-by-decade SDCC plan.
    • The retro DC Comics Booth celebrates early Silver Age vibes, though Supergirl’s absence raises one big Kandor-sized question.
    • San Diego Comic-Con fans can grab a free MAD Magazine #1 facsimile and explore Superman and LEGO Batman experiences.
    • DC Comics Booth #4544 also packs exclusive comics, merch, foil variants, and creator signings with major DC talent.

Bleeding Cool’s Senior San Diego Correspondent Jimmy Leszczynski took a trip back in time at the DC Comics Booth yesterday for Preview Night, as the comic book publisher went back to the 1950’s… although Supergirl, who debuted in that decade, seemed mysteriously absent…

Okay, I will say this now, having yellow and gold highlights on the Green Lantern Power Battery seems a little odd…

DC Comics Booth can be found at #4544 on the exhibit floor, celebrating the early part of the Silver Age of comics, part of its ten-year San Diego Comic-Con plan, each year celebrating the next decade as they head towards their hundredth anniversary in eight years’ time. So we have a Daily Planet newsstand offering a free MAD Magazine #1 facsimile with classic ads from DC’s archive,

interactive experiences like playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Superman Experience, where fans can pose with Superman and Krypto in front of a Fortress of Solitude backdrop and receive a special edition Superman Experience #1 custom comic. As well as activations from Upper Deck, Shoe Palace, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, eBay and more, exclusive comics and merchandise, with a focus on the Absolute Universe line with foil variant covers and special editions, and creator Signings including Stuart Fails to Save the Universe cast/creators, Jim Lee, Scott Snyder, Stephanie Williams, Nick Dragotta, Mark Waid, G. Willow Wilson, Matt Fraction, Joshua Williamson, Tom Taylor, Rafael Grampá, AEW wrestlers, Bill Sienkiewicz and many more revealing upcoming projects and announcements if you squint… more on that in a minute… I’m only just waking up properly.
