July 30 (UPI) — Netflix and AMC have signed a new multi-year deal to share the streaming rights to the original The Walking Dead series and its six spin-offs.
“Audiences have discovered and loved The Walking Dead on Netflix for nearly 15 years and the show continues to attract new fans,” Lori Conkling, vice president of licensing at Netflix, said in a press release Thursday.
“We’re excited to partner with AMC Global Media to continue to expand that access to more audiences around the world and bring the entirety of The Walking Dead Universe to Netflix.”
The zombie-apocalypse franchise started on the AMC cable TV network in 2010, but Netflix has had the exclusive streaming rights to the original 11-season show since 2011.
This new pact will allow AMC+ to stream the show alongside Netflix, starting next year.
Netflix will also make it and its spin-offs available in more territories globally.
