Aasha Singh Jaiswal passed away
Sharing the heartbreaking news, Akkash remembered his mother as an “Iron Lady”. In his post, he urged people to pray for her soul and, more importantly, continue to remember her work.
Akkash wrote that his mother was a hardworking woman whose entire life revolved around her work. He also asked people to watch her work on social media, saying it would keep her memory alive and bring joy to her soul.
Rather than framing her death solely as a moment of grief, Akkash reflected on his mother’s philosophy towards life and death. He described her message as one that encouraged people not to mourn death, but to look at it as a journey towards spiritual bliss.
The actor’s passing has left behind a legacy that stretched across entertainment and social work.
Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s mimicry legacy
Aasha Singh Jaiswal was particularly known for her mimicry skills and was described by her son as India’s first female mimicry artist. One of her noted talents was recreating the voice of legendary actress Meena Kumari, showcasing her ability to bring the voices of iconic performers back to life.
Beyond mimicry and acting, Aasha was also involved in social work. She was the founder and operator of Aasha Events and Films, combining her association with the entertainment industry with her wider professional and social interests.
Her work has continued to remain accessible on social media, something her son specifically highlighted while announcing her death. His appeal for audiences to revisit her performances also serves as a reminder of the kind of legacy she leaves behind.
Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s final rites were scheduled to take place on August 23 at 10 am at Pawan Hans in Vile Parle West, Mumbai.
As the industry and those who knew her mourn her passing, Aasha’s family hopes her work will continue to be watched and remembered. For a performer who dedicated much of her life to her craft, perhaps there is no more fitting tribute than keeping that work alive.
