A Twitch streamer has gone viral for a clip in which her microphone was temporarily bugging out, causing her voice to sound robotic and high-pitched.
The clip is from the beginning of her livestream, so she does her intro as normal, not realizing the malfunction, much to the amusement of her followers.
Megan Ciafre is a Twitch streamer and social media creator whose content mostly focuses on fantasy-style fashion, video games, clips of her livestreams and her daily life. She often posts highlights from her streams, and her latest viral Instagram Reel showcases a hilarious moment from a recent stream.
In it, Ciafre greets her viewers as normal, not realizing that her voice is coming out on stream with a strange and unintended effect.
“Mic was broken at the beginning of the stream…” Ciafre wrote on the video, which showed the start of one of her streams as she appeared on camera.
All looked normal. However, when she greeted her viewers, something was very obviously wrong. Her voice was robotic and high-pitched, rendering a lot of what she said unintelligible.
As she wasn’t wearing headphones, Ciafre was completely oblivious to what she sounded like and continued her greeting, saying, “Happy freakin Friday!” and asking her viewers what they thought of the music.
However, when she read her stream’s chat, she saw some people were telling her that her microphone was broken, or asking if the audio was broken for others as well. Ciafre’s face fell immediately, and she expressed her frustration.
Ciafre then proceeded to put on headphones, repeating, “Hello,” to hear what she sounded like. Upon hearing herself, she was shocked by what she heard, widening her eyes and covering her mouth in surprise and embarrassment.
Laughing about it, she proceeded to diagnose the problem on her computer, looking confused and concerned at what she found, and speaking again with the strange effect on her voice.
Ciafre continued to try and fix the problem until she decided to use a trusty, classic fix: Unplugging the microphone and plugging it back in.
“Hello, hello, can you hear me? Can you see me?” she said, now with her normal voice sounding through the microphone. “Oh, thank god,” she exclaimed with relief.
“Let me redo my intro,” Ciafre told her viewers. “Let’s take it from the top,” she added, laughing. “Adds ‘check mic’ to pre-stream to-do list 💀,” Ciafre wrote in her video’s caption.
In the comments, people compared Ciafre’s voice to that of various fictional characters, including Toad from Nintendo’s Super Mario video game franchise, and Simon from Alvin and The Chipmunks.

Others posted replies with pictures or GIFs of aliens, comparing the effect on Ciafre’s voice to the common idea of what an extraterrestrial being’s speech must sound like.
