The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host its second annual Fan Fest from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Main Library, 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia
The all-ages event celebrates fandoms and pop culture with activities including a cosplay contest, panels, special performances, a ramen-eating contest, a video game tournament, crafts, a fantasy drink café, a food truck and a performance by Mugicians. Registered attendees will receive an exclusive event sticker
The cosplay contest is open to participants ages 12 and older. Those who do not wish to compete may participate in the Cosplay Catwalk, which will be held while judges deliberate, allowing individuals and families to showcase their costumes
“We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s creativity come to life with their costumes and support a safe, welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy no matter your level of experience,” Public Service Associate Maeggie Dotts said
Contestants may enter one of two categories. The beginner category is for those with little or no cosplay experience and requires that at least 50% of the costume be handmade or altered. The experienced category is for participants with contest or costuming experience and requires that at least 75% of the costume be handmade or altered
All costumes and participant conduct must comply with Tuscarawas County Public Library policies, which are available at tusclibrary.org
