The new virtual reality system expands simulation options for utility aircraft pilots, including those supporting humanitarian and specialist a
TRU Simulation + Training has introduced a virtual reality flight training device for the Cessna Grand Caravan EX, adding the utility turboprop to its Veris simulation platform.
The device is the first Caravan-specific training system in the company’s portfolio and is intended to support pilot instruction and proficiency training across a range of operations.
The system combines a physical cockpit with virtual reality technology, replicating the Grand Caravan EX’s flight controls, instrumentation, and Garmin G1000 NXi avionics.
Its dual-seat configuration supports both single-pilot and multi-crew instruction, while the ability to operate with or without a virtual reality headset allows instructors to adapt training to different requirements.
Jerry Messaris, President and CEO of TRU Simulation, said the platform was designed to make advanced simulation more accessible to operators seeking to improve pilot preparedness while managing training costs.
The Cessna Grand Caravan EX is used internationally for passenger transport, cargo operations, and humanitarian missions, including flights serving remote communities.
The new configuration expands the Veris range, which already includes training devices for the Airbus H125, Bell 505, and Cessna Skyhawk.
For operators conducting specialist missions in remote or challenging environments, aircraft-specific simulation offers a potential means of supporting pilot familiarization and recurrent training.
TRU Simulation has not announced a launch customer or identified any air medical or emergency response operators planning to adopt the new device.
