Tom Brady’s growing collectibles business hit with another costly theft

Tom Brady’s rapidly expanding collectibles business has been targeted by thieves for the second time in less than a year.

Sixty trading cards valued at more than $12,000 were stolen from the Palo Alto, Calif., location of CardVault by Tom Brady early Sunday morning, according to police records obtained by People. The burglary occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. after suspects reportedly broke an exterior window and entered the store. Multiple display cases were smashed during the incident.

The suspects remained at large as of Wednesday.

Although Brady’s name makes the crime noteworthy, the timing makes it especially jarring. The Palo Alto store celebrated its grand opening Aug. 15, just eight days before the burglary. It was the 19th CardVault location and another sign of the company’s growth since Brady became one of its owners.

    Burglary follows another CardVault theft

The Palo Alto break-in was not an isolated incident for Brady’s company.

Nearly $10,000 worth of baseball and Pokémon cards were stolen from CardVault’s New York City location in October 2025. That alleged theft did not involve a smashed window or broken display cases. A suspect instead attempted to make a purchase with a credit card before allegedly manipulating prompts on the payment terminal after the transaction was declined.

The suspect then left with the merchandise, according to the previous report. The latest theft occurred only six days after the Palo Alto Police Department welcomed Brady and CardVault to the neighborhood.

Brady posed for a photograph with a police officer during the store’s opening weekend, which reportedly attracted a large crowd.

“@cardvaultbytombrady opened its doors in Palo Alto over the weekend and drew a big crowd,” the department wrote on Instagram. “Look who we ran into! Welcome to the neighborhood.”

Less than one week later, the department was investigating a burglary at the same location.

Brady has major stake in expanding company

Brady acquired a 50% ownership stake in CardVault in February 2025. The partnership brought a new name, CardVault by Tom Brady, and a famous face to a company specializing in authenticated trading cards and sports memorabilia.

Brady’s involvement was designed to help the business reach a much larger audience. Few athletes have a stronger connection to the collectibles market than the former New England Patriots quarterback, whose rare cards and signed memorabilia can command enormous prices.

The 60 stolen cards were collectively valued at more than $12,000, but authorities did not identify the individual cards or athletes featured on them. Brady’s business now must recover from another expensive theft while continuing its expansion.

The opening of a 19th location should have been the story.

Instead, only eight days after customers first entered the Palo Alto store, thieves reportedly forced their own way inside.
