To You in the Beyond Anime Film Unveils Trailer and More Cast

Shochiku rounds out its voice cast and drops a full trailer as advance tickets go on sale this week for the October theatrical release.

The upcoming anime film To You in the Beyondnow has a complete trailer, key visuals, and four additional cast members, following the company’s announcement on July 22. The trailer also included musician Tota’s theme song, Olive. 

The film, adapted from Akiko Abe’s 2017 novel Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e, opens in Japanese theaters on October 9. The theatrical project already had its world premiere at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles earlier this month.

To You in the Beyond Anime Film Plot and Production

Set on the remote island of Saikijima, To You in the Beyond follows high school student Kazuki Tsukigase, a teenager who transfers to a school on the remote island of Tokishima to escape his past. The premise starts after he finds an unconscious girl named Nanao Akishika at the mysterious ‘Spirited Away Cove.’

As the two grow closer, Kazuki learns that Nanao has traveled from 1974, turning their summer encounter into a story that bridges two eras. Sayaka Kuwamura, known for Strobe Edgeand Josee, The Tiger and the Fish, wrote the screenplay.

To You in the Beyond is directed by Junichi Wada, whose credits include Caligula, HIGH CARD, at TMS Entertainment. Illustrator Hechima, who worked on Cosmic Princess Kaguya! serves as character designer and chief animation director. Shochiku, the entertainment company that is producing the Kagurabachianime adaptation with CyberAgent, distributes the film.

To You in the Beyond Film Voice Cast 

As previously announced, lead cast members of To You in the Beyond, Hiiro Ishibashi and Anna Nagase, are taking on the roles of Kazuki and Nanao. The latest trailerannouncement expanded the previously announced cast.

The official website of the To You in the Beyond anime film also announced on July 22 that advance tickets go on sale nationwide from July 24. Tickets are priced at ¥1.6K ($9.79) for general admission and ¥900 ($5.51) for children, with a teaser visual featured clear-file bonus while supplies last. Although the film has already screened at Anime Expo 2026, distributors have yet to announce an international theatrical rollout.
