↑ Nothing else on TV can compete with World Cup fever right now, with eight of ten top telecasts being FIFA-related. The three U.S. group stage matches at the World Cup averaged 17.1 million viewers on Fox alone and 24.16 million with Spanish-language telecasts on Telemundo and Peacock. Having the World Cup on home turf — and back in its usual spot on the calendar — is certainly a big part of the ratings boost
↑ The U.S., Mexico and Canada are co-hosting the tournament, which means pregame shows start in the late morning or midday ET; the last men’s World Cup was held in Qatar in the fall of 2022, which meant an eight- to 11-hour time difference in the U.S., depending on time zone. The later date (to avoid extreme summer heat in Qatar) also meant a much more crowded TV sports calendar. And even Fox’s pregame show has more than doubled its audience from the 2022 World Cup

↑ The return of Love Island USA propelled the reality show to No. 1 overall on the streaming charts. The unscripted series, which streams new episodes six days a week, had 1.31 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of June 1-7, finishing first overall for the week.Love Island was also way up over its 2025 premiere week (772 million minutes), rising by 69 percent year to year. Nielsen also says a majority of viewing — 59 percent — came from adults 18-34
↑ After a slow two weeks led by Netflix’s documentary The Crash, Pixar’sHoppersbowed at No. 1 on the chart with more than a billion minutes-viewed. Netflix’s original film Office Romance, starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, premiered with a solid 655 million minutes
↑ Notice that Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstonespinoff Dutton Ranch is holding its own against Love Island USA with just five episodes to its name, compared to the reality series’ 253 episodes. The series has improved each week since its May 15 premiere
↑ As HBO Max’s Euphoria concludes its third and final season, it’s rising even on a chart with some of the biggest library catalogs on major streaming platforms
↑ With all attention on a rapidly consolidating media industry, a look at Nielsen’s latest Media Distributor Gauge is striking for a couple reasons: Yes, YouTube is still dominating, but look at Paramount (which includes CBS and Paramount+) in this ranking matching Netflix in total TV use. And that’s before David Ellison will get to add in Warner Bros. Discovery’s 6 percent share when his $111 billion deal closes. Another wild card, keep in mind that if Lachlan Murdoch has his way that 3 percent you see on The Roku Channel will be added in to Fox if his $22 billion deal closes.
↑ Ahead of its July 1 debut in the United States, Universal’s animated sequel Minions & Monsters has collected $10.3 million in its first ten markets overseas
Big Number
$585M
Pixar‘s Toy Story 5took $70 million in North America in its sophomore frame to retain the top spot. It dropped 56 percent after last weekend’s strong start, when it notched 2026’s biggest domestic opening thus far with $160 million. Expectations
Not So Super
Supergirlexperienced some turbulence in its weekend debut with $37 million domestically and $68 million globally, falling below tracking estimates. It carries a budget of $170 million, making it less of a lift than Superman’s $225 million sum. The film sits at a 58% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, a “B-” on Cinemascore and a 50 score on Metacritic after lukewarm reviews arrived
↑ Paramount’s Jackass: Best and Last picked up $8.4 million domestically for a global total gross of $10.3 million. While previous franchise entry Jackass: Forever opened with $23.1 million in February 2022, the new one has the benefit of a budget of just $10 million
↑ Giant hit its highest grossing week ever last week, as the show played its last performance at the Music Box Theatre Sunday and brought in $1.6 million across its final eight performances
