I am the girl, I am the God, I am the basis of season four, said Akasha, surely. The Vampire Lestat (formerly Interview With the Vampire) took the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con. Lestat may have been narrating his failures this past season, but the series is celebrating its accomplishments as executive producer Mark Johnson announced a season-four renewal. The new season was confirmed through a teaser cut for Comic-Con-goers that debuted yet another name change: Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. Sheila Atim (Akasha herself) was on the panel alongside Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, and Eric Bogosian as the quartet mainly spoke of the recent season-three finale beforehand.
In a press release, the new season was confirmed with writer and executive producer Hannah Moscovitch as the series’ new showrunner while Rolin Jones stays on as executive producer, as he presumably has his plate full with TheGrapes of Wrath, also coming to AMC. He was noticeably absent, as was Lestat de Lioncourt himself Sam Reid, who is currently starring in a stage production of Doubt. Even without Reid, Loustat was there in spirit as Anderson asked the crowd to “cheer for Sam Reid again. It’s really weird him not being here.” Meanwhile, the crowd awwwed as long as they cheered. Here’s to hoping Akasha doesn’t fuck these crazy kids up too much. One can dream.
