Dave Franco and Mason Thames reunited when stopping at Entertainment Weekly‘s 2026 San Diego Comic Con studio on Friday — and couldn’t contain their excitement. The duo screamed and jumped up and down after seeing each other, months starring alongside each other in Regretting You.
“Oh, my God!” Thames could be heard saying as Franco yelled off camera. When Franco walked into frame, Thames immediately jumped into his arms. The two spun around the room as Thames told Franco he planned on texting him to meet up while they were both in town. Naturally, Franco busted out his signature grin and the two even climbed on each other’s backs.
While Franco is there to promote his upcoming animated film, Forgotten Island, Thames was promoting his musical movie Nimrods, based on the early days of Green Day.
Last year, Franco starred as Jonah Sullivan in the 2025 adaptation of author Hoover’s book Regretting You.Thames, meanwhile, played the role of Miller Adams, the teenage love interest of Mckenna Grace’s Clara Grant. (Thames and Grace are dating in real life. They’re also set to share the screen again in Nimrods.)
The movie follows the development of multiple love stories after tragedy strikes and Clara suddenly loses her dad (Scott Eastwood). As the film goes on, it’s revealed that Eastwood’s character, Chris, betrays his wife, Morgan (Allison Williams), and Clara by having an affair with his sister-in-law, Jenny (Willa Fitzgerald), who was married to Jonah. Yeah, you read all that right.

After Jenny and Chris die in a car accident, their betrayal comes to light. As Clara is getting over their deaths, she falls for Miller. Jonah, meanwhile, moves on with Morgan.
Regretting Youwas the first time Franco and Thames shared the screen together — but it’s not the last. They’re also set to appear in Idiots, hitting theaters next month.
The upcoming film, which also stars O’Shea Jackson Jr., will follow two men hired to transport a rich teen to rehab. But things, as expected, don’t go exactly how they should.
“I had such a great time working with him on [Regretting You] that I roped him into another movie,” Franco told PEOPLE in January, noting that Idiotsis “the complete opposite tone” from their last project.
