We’re keeping an eye on a VTuber named “Yadokari no Dolly,” who started posting short video series in March of this year and made her first horizontal video on July 26th. At first glance, she posts self-introduction and Q&A videos in a cheerful tone, but if you look closely at the content, you’ll find a lot of unsettling words and a very unique worldview.
Dolly the hermit crab made her first short video in March <a href="https://comicvibe.com/rintama-high-codes-august-2026/” title=”Rintama High codes (August 2026)”>2026 as a test broadcast. However, when she removed the safety covering her face, the screen became noisy and turned completely red. She muttered to herself, “I guess… I’m still not ready for direct contact,” and the video ended. In the video that followed, the image blacked out just as a user, who seemed to be in front of Dolly’s screen, tried to remember something, and she uttered the cryptic words, “I can’t believe your mother’s eyes can hear this well… she’s definitely human after all.”
Apparently, the short videos are structured around a story in which Dolly interacts with a person referred to as “you on the screen,” and with each episode, the world surrounding Dolly is gradually revealed.
Short videos have been posted that introduce what appear to be Dolly’s family members and give tours of Adan, the paradise island where the story takes place. However, the story is such that it’s difficult to grasp the full picture of Dolly, and each time you finish watching a video, another mystery is added. In the comments section, there is a lot of speculation based on what Dolly says, and there is a movement to ask Dolly questions and gradually unravel the story.
Amidst all this, the first horizontal video was posted in July. The content is a partial introduction to what the video would look like if it were output as reality without using the VTuber format, but… watch at your own risk.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on what kind of story unfolds for Dolly in the future.
