Nani’s much awaited film The Paradiseis creating a lot of interest before its theatrical release. Industry tracking data reveals that only days before the film’s release, its advance bookings have already crossed the Rs 7 crore mark for the first four days.
The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela, is slated to hit the screens on September 24, with premiere shows starting a day before. Some 72,000 tickets are said to have already been sold, showing strong demand ahead of release.
The first day takes a big bite out of the advance bookings. According to reports the film has sold around 58,000 tickets in 1,029 shows for September 24.
The gross from regular bookings has crossed Rs 1.25 crore, the figure rising to around Rs 3.81 crore when block seats are included.
Hyderabad emerges as the biggest contributor to opening day advance sales. The city has allegedly generated Rs 1.66 crore in block seats etc.
Following this are Bengaluru with around Rs 33.58 lakh and Vijayawada and Guntur with around Rs 15.61 lakh and Rs 12.72 lakh respectively.
Telangana tops regional bookings
The state-wise numbers for advance booking also show a strong interest in the Telugu speaking markets.
Telangana has contributed around Rs 2.4 crore to the Day 1 advance gross across versions. Andhra Pradesh is next with almost Rs 92.46 lakh.
Karnataka has contributed around Rs 35.04 lakh, while Tamil Nadu has contributed approximately Rs 11.53 lakh.
As per reports, the Telugu 2D version alone has sold around 5,776 tickets across 1,027 shows, making around Rs 1.25 crore without block seats.
Bookings continue after opening day
Day 1 is still the biggest draw, but advance sales are now open for the following weekend days.
It is said that the film has crossed Rs 13 lakh for September 25 alone and has sold around 7,000 tickets across 504 shows. September 26 has witnessed a turnover of close to Rs 9 lakh from close to 4,000 tickets while September 27 has witnessed a turnover of about Rs 6 lakh from about 3,000 tickets so far.
These figures are excluding block seats
The film apparently sold Rs 7.85 crore worth of tickets in the four days of advance booking including the block seats with Rs 5 crore plus being added in the last 24 hours.
The Paradise has been rated an A
The film has also been pre-certified for theatrical release. The Central Board of Film Certification has apparently given The Paradise an A certificate, restricting theatrical viewing to adults only.
Nani took to social media to acknowledge the certification and shared a new poster from the film.
The film is said to run for around 2 hours and 49 minutes and will kick off its theatrical run with premiere screenings on September 23.
Will The Paradise give Nani his biggest opener?
The strong bookings in advance have inevitably fueled speculation on how the film will perform on its opening day. Trade trackers have estimated that the film minted around Rs 50 crore globally on its opening day.
HIT: The Third Case, which earned Rs 38 crore worldwide on day one, is Nani’s current reported opening-day record. Next up is Dasara which reportedly grossed around Rs 36.25 crore worldwide on its first day.
But whether The Paradise ultimately catches those figures will be seen in final advance sales and audience reaction when the film opens.
This is Nani and Srikanth Odela’s second film together after Dasara. Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu and Sonali Kulkarni are also in the cast.
With the release date nearing, the next question is whether the film’s solid pre-release booking momentum translates into a big opening in theaters.
