    Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller

The coming of Autumn brings a plethora of comic strips about falling leaves, does it also bring thoughts of death? Three strips kicked off with that topic today.

On the Fastrack by Bill Holbrook

Despite assurances and excuses that they don’t use anymore water than than 50 acres of food those of us who live in agricultural but drought prone areas would rather the water went to food than process centers. If they must be built have them built close to the ocean and force them to build accompanying desalination plants for cooling purposes.

Rabbits Against Magic by Jonathan Lemon

Trixie rants against zombie strips in newspapers and lists a dozen of the best selling ones in the gutter between the top and bottom rows. But of course most newspaper readers don’t realize the strips are reruns except Peanuts, In the days of three tiered comics another dozen could have been listed in the space between the second and third levels.

    Doonesbury by G. B. Trudeau

Mike Peterson notes the deception going on at and by the current White House occupants but here we note that Trudeau will have to adapt to changing circumstances regarding Trump’s hair(piece?).

Though whether carefully coiffed or a toupee surely neither is so set during his nap time.

    Flash Gordon by Dan Schkade
Flash Gordon by Alex Raymond – August 14, 1938

Disappointed that Schkade didn’t offer up a tribute to Raymond during the Flash Gordon and Ming sword fight to one of the most famous panels in comic strip history.

    Mark Trail by Jules Rivera

Not nearly as disappointing but for some reason it struck me that Rivera should have ended Saturday’s Mark Trail with The Phantom blurb “Next: New Adventure.”

Sally Forth by Francesco Marciuliano and Jim Keefe
    Rugrats by Kent and Roberts/Blyberg

Again, a minor disappointment. The new character Liam in Sally Forth should have been named Chuckie.

    Rosebuds by $upr Dee

Deon Parson was the only cartoonist to do a story about government agencies (public libraries and public schools) banning books during Banned Book Week. The story started a week before and ran for two weeks.

TheAmerican Library Association released a list of the “150 Most Challenged Books” from 1990 to 2025 with many classics and more than a few graphic novels on the list, with #1 being a graphic novel.

    Moving on.

Enjoyed the morphing of Dagwood from cartoonish to realistic in today’s Blondie as something different. It made up for Dagwood’s nose touching the panel border Friday which for some reason disturbed me much more than it should have.
