The next great Tradd Moore comic won’t belong to Marvel or DC or anyone else, but him (and us!) in 2027

The first big book of 2027 has a name: Touch Me Someplace Nowhere by Tradd Moore

2026 isn’t over yet, but right now I wish it were, as we’d be that much closer to reading Touch Me Someplace Nowhere by Tradd Moore. In recent years, Moore has become one of the most revolutionary (and copied!) artists in North American comics, and the kind of artist everyone asks journalists like me to report on what their next project is. And now I can give that to you

    Touch Me Someplace Nowhere teaser

After being an in-demand artist for Marvel, DC, and almost every high-profile writer wanting to launch a new thing with a stunning artist, Tradd Moore is betting on himself by writing and drawing his very first creator-owned book. The PNW-based Oni Press has landed the plum gig of publishing Moore’s new book in what I’m told was a bit of an informal bidding war between publishers, with Oni Press boss Hunter Gorinson calling it “a once-in-a-generation project,” and “an immense honor for the entire Oni Press team to be entrusted with bringing Tradd’s singular vision to the page.”

So what is Touch Me Someplace Nowhere? It’s comics. The great kind

“This comic stretches a gonzo tightrope between camp genres I love over unresolved feelings that pang; I’m thrilled to dance on it with my tongue out,” says Moore in the announcement. “Romantic, perilous, and aching.”

Set to debut sometime in 2027, Touch Me Somplace Nowhere is a primal and intense reimagining of New York City where street gangs rule, and wild animals (really, wild animals) are known to run down Madison Avenue. Amidst its cast of characters is a standout: Kelly Muir, child of a powerful crime family who, according to the Oni Press release, “is about to find herself on a self-immolating, lovesick bender through the exuberant nocturnal archipelagos of drug-infused, gangland Brooklyn after dark.”

“Touch Me Someplace Nowhere conjures visions of Shakespeare by way of Paul Thomas Anderson in what is sure to be a masterful and unforgettable expression of comic book and poetic storytelling,” says Oni Press editor-in-chief Sierra Hahn. “Tradd’s rich cast of characters are steeped in style, conviction, and desire. Readers will fall in love with Kelly and the multifaceted tapestry of her life in this wild adventure.”

Moore burst onto the scene straight out of college in 2011 as the artist on Image Comics’ The Strange Talent of Luther Strode (co-created with writer Justin Jordan), and it became a star vehicle for what Moore would do next. Both DC and Marvel beat down his door for projects, with him working on an ill-fated Suicide Squad run and then being tapped to revamp Marvel’s Ghost Rider, which quickly inspired an MCU version and even being recruited into the Avengers at one point. Moore went on to draw the mind-bending Silver Surfer: Black for writer Donny Cates, and then got a shot at writing his own comics for Marvel with Doctor Strange: Fall Sunrise. In the interim, Moore has been working secretly on this new project, but also taking time to develop a whiskey with the Ardburg distillery (no, really).

Now, for the first time, Tradd Moore is in full control of his comics with Touch Me Someplace Nowhere, and he will debut it in 2027. While we wait, Oni Press will be debuting a print for the series at this month’s Comic-Con International: San Diego, but that’s limited to just 500… so uh, be careful out there (and save me one, Hunter!)
