She isn’t very fond of the proposal to limit children from the European Union’s access to online games.
The association Video Games Europe shared its stance on the official website. It stated that, overall, it agrees with the idea of the EU Kids Act—a new European Commission bill aimed at protecting minors on the internet, which involves online games. Video Games Europe also believes that special conditions should be created for children, although it is preferable to avoid extremes.
Specifically, the association is pleased that the full text of the bill mentions not only the previously leaked media ban on children registering accounts themselves until age 15 but also many other things.
For instance, it has been revealed that the EU Kids Act proposes making the design of online games safer for young gamers and disabling a number of default settings: tracking geolocation, access to the microphone and camera, showing push notifications at any time, and so on. Additionally, the European Commission wants to unify age ratings for games, based on PEGI rules, and require gaming stores to mark titles accordingly.
Video Games Europe approved some of the proposals; however, it remains convinced that parents should be responsible for controlling access to online games.

Let’s recall that among the members of Video Games Europe are many large gaming companies, including Microsoft, Take-Two Interactive, Electronic Arts, CD PROJEKT RED, Supercell, and Ubisoft. They have not released individual statements regarding the bill.
