The Drops of God is now available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in India for Episodes 1 through 12. The anime can also be watched in its original Japanese audio with English subtitles.
The story follows Shizuku Kanzaki, a young man who has to compete with the accomplished wine critic Issei Tomine after his estranged father dies. The two are drawn into a competition involving a collection of highly valued wines, forcing Shizuku to learn about wine while trying to complete the challenge left behind by his father.
The anime is based on the manga Drops of God, written by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shu Okimoto. The original manga ran in Weekly Morning from 2004 to 2014 and ended with 44 volumes. The story centres on Shizuku and Issei as they search for the wines known as the “Twelve Apostles” before eventually pursuing the mysterious “Drops of God.”
The television anime is produced by Satelight and directed by Kenji Itoso, with Yū Mitsuru handling the scripts and Eishi Segawa composing the music. It aired in Japan from April to September 2026 and has 24 episodes.
The series stands apart from many anime releases because wine sits at the centre of its story rather than serving as a minor setting detail. Shizuku starts out with little knowledge of wine, but his strong senses of taste and smell help him describe and identify wines as he takes part in the competition. His rival Issei, meanwhile, is already an experienced critic and presents a much more difficult challenge.
