The cooking manga ‘Oishinbo,’ which follows newspaper reporters Shiro Yamaoka and Yuko Kurita as they take on the challenge of creating the ‘ultimate menu’ as part of their work, and engage in a showdown with Yuzan Kaibara, who supervises the ‘supreme menu’ for a rival newspaper, as well as dealing with the problems of people involved in cooking, will be adapted into a TV anime series called ‘Shin Oishinbo’ ( New Oishinbo ).

‘Oishinbo’ is a manga series that was serialized in Big Comic Spirits from 1983. The story follows Shiro Yamaoka, a lazy but knowledgeable reporter for the Tozai Newspaper, who, along with his colleague Yuko Kurita, is tasked with creating the ‘Ultimate Menu’ as part of the company’s 100th-anniversary project. This leads to a father-son showdown with Shiro’s father, Yuzan Kaibara, a gourmet who is supervising a similar project called ‘The Supreme Menu’ for the rival newspaper, Teito Newspaper. There are currently 111 volumes published, and the series has been on hiatus since 2014.

Furthermore, from 1988 to 1992, it was adapted into an anime series produced by Shin-Ei Animation, the studio behind ‘Doraemon’ and ‘Crayon Shin-chan.’
