The first full Avengers: Doomsday trailer hit, and it had a shocking moment for anyone who wasn’t actually paying attention to the promotions leading up to the next big Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover movie. Just after Thor tells all of Earth’s heroes that they need a miracle, the scene changes to Thor walking up and seeing Steve Rogers standing there looking at him. Thor looks at him in disbelief, but when Steve summons Mjolnir to his hands, it convinces Thor because Steve is the only other person worthy on Earth (now that Jane Foster is dead). However, there is a new Avengers: Doomsday theory that this isn’t Rogers at all, but is instead Loki impersonating Steve to help his brother and Earth’s heroes in the fight to stop the incursions and Doctor Doom.

In anticipation of Loki’s role in Avengers: Doomsday, fans are streaming the series once again, and Flix Patrol reports that it has hit the Disney+ top 10 five years after the show’s first season. Loki sits on the list at the number 10 spot on the TV Shows chart as of July 22, alongsideX-Men ’97 (in third), Avengers: Infinity War (ninth on the movies chart), and Avengers: Endgame (seventh on the movies chart).

The actual seasons aren’t listed on the Disney+ list, and it is just the main series title, so there is a likely chance that fans are streaming the entire series, especially since it has the most to do withthe upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie’s plot. While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness deals with the incursions directly when Strange speaks with the Illuminati on Earth, it is Loki that really shows how things are going wrong. The show did set up Kang as the big bad, only to be replaced later by Doctor Doom, but the idea of Loki sitting at the end of time, holding the multiverse together, is the important part here.

There are a few big things that people can discover by rewatching Loki, or just watching it for the first time. First, Loki becomes a genuine hero here rather than a reluctant antihero. In fact, he sacrifices everything to save the entire multiverse after Sylvie kills the future version of Kang the Conqueror. By taking on the role of the protector of the timeline, Loki gives up any sense of a normal existence and becomes one with the universe, effectively settling in alone at the end of time just to ensure he protects the sacred timeline and watches out for incursions.

This also does something else that gives some credence to the rumors. If Loki sacrificed everything to become the protector at the end of time, he is surely worthy now, and he could easily hold Mjolnir since he put his evil ways behind him and has become a genuine hero as well. Even pretending to be Steve Rogers could be seen as a good move that wouldn’t soil his new reputation and honor, so if anyone could hold Mjolnir other than Steve and Thor, it is Loki now. That moment could also pay off Loki’s entire storyline to this point, finally earning the one thing he had dreamed of his entire life. Fans sending Loki back to the rankings on the streaming charts should catch everyone up on the hero leading into Avengers: Doomsday.
