When I was a kid, I was a huge Spiderman fan.I religiously bought the latest Spiderman comic book; rush home, read it and then imagine myself as Spiderman.
What would it be like to be the lonely Peter Parker who was given super powers to battle bad guys?
I was in junior high school and I was a Spiderman freak.
But I grew out of it, and while I have fond memories of my Spiderman days, they are way behind me. And that’s why it’s always so interesting to see some of the middle age and senior adults at Comic Con.
For many of them, they seem to be just as crazy for their comic book and Saturday morning cartoon heroes as they were when they were 12 years old.
But then Comic Con has its roots way back in 1970 when comic books were what kids had, long before video games and digital streaming,
But now many of the grown up kids of all ages dress up in costumes, they recite the lines, they hum the theme songs and they generally try to behave like their super heroes.
There’s nothing wrong with having a child inside you. It’s a good thing and a good way to stay young. And I guess that’s what makes Comic Con what it is.
