In the long-standing disc vs digital debate, the Take-Two CEO has shared his thoughts, and they lean towards digital.

The gaming community has been divided ever since Sony announced that it will cease production of physical discs for PlayStation games starting in 2028. Many players are unhappy with this decision, while others understand the reasoning behind it. Some developers have also expressed their opinions, and it appears that Take-Two is supporting the shift to digital.

Take-Two CEO Sides with Digital in Disc vs Digital Debate

According to a post by CharlieIntel on X (formerly Twitter), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed his views on the ongoing debate between physical discs and digital formats. Zelnick stated, “Discs don’t make sense to the consumer. Digital is more convenient.” Reactions from the community have been mixed, with most commenters expressing dissatisfaction, while a few understand the rationale behind his statement.

Recently, several industry leaders have expressed their opinions in the ongoing debate between physical discs and digital content. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot echoed sentiments similar to those of Take-Two’s CEO, stating that he believes PlayStation’s decision to eliminate physical discs will not disrupt the industry. Additionally, in response to community backlash, Sony has clarified that this decision will not be reversed.
