MUMBAI: The Ramayan is finding a new chapter, this time on collectors’ shelves. As anticipation builds around a major cinematic adaptation of the ancient epic, collectible maker Stone Sapphire India Pvt. Ltd. is betting on the growing global appetite for mythology-inspired merchandise with a strategic investment in The Hierophant Entertainment, the creator of the Legends of the Ramayan franchise.

The partnership combines Stone Sapphire’s manufacturing, licensing, retail and international distribution capabilities with The Hierophant Entertainment’s creative expertise to expand Legends of the Ramayan into global markets. The companies aim to position the franchise as a premium Indian-origin intellectual property through collector-grade action figures, comics and original storytelling.

The move comes as mythology-inspired entertainment gains fresh momentum across films, publishing and popular culture. Industry interest in the Ramayana has surged ahead of an upcoming big-screen adaptation, fuelling demand for collectibles and merchandise based on India’s cultural heritage.

Created by Soumya Das, Legends of the Ramayan reimagines characters from the epic through an original comic-book universe and high-end action figures aimed at collectors in India and overseas. The franchise blends traditional mythology with contemporary world-building and detailed product design, targeting both pop culture enthusiasts and serious collectors.

With Stone Sapphire’s investment and worldwide distribution network, the franchise is expected to significantly broaden its international footprint, as both companies look to tap into rising global interest in Indian stories and homegrown intellectual properties.

Stone Sapphire India Pvt. Ltd. managing director and chief executive officer Shobhit Singh said, “Indian theology has always been one of our greatest cultural treasures, and today we’re seeing audiences engage with these stories in newer and more immersive ways. The growing excitement around theology-inspired entertainment reinforces the opportunity for Indian intellectual properties to reach global audiences. Through Legends of the Ramayan, we are proud to support a franchise that presents these iconic characters with world-class design, authentic storytelling and premium collectibles.”

He added that growing interest in the Ramayan across films and popular culture makes this the right time to showcase Indian-origin intellectual properties that can resonate with collectors worldwide.

The Hierophant Entertainment founder Soumya Das said the vision behind Legends of the Ramayan has always been to present Indian mythology with the same quality and collector appeal as leading global franchises. He added that Stone Sapphire’s backing would help the brand reach a much larger international audience while remaining rooted in its cultural heritage.

The partnership reflects a broader trend of Indian mythology expanding beyond books and cinema into gaming, publishing and consumer products. As global audiences increasingly embrace culturally rooted stories, both companies are positioning Legends of the Ramayan as a flagship franchise that brings India’s storytelling legacy to the worldwide collectibles market.
