The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will bring back Fan Fest on Aug. 1 at its main library in New Philadelphia, with a cosplay contest, panels, performances and other activities.
The event celebrates fandoms and pop-culture interests, according to a community announcement. Fan Fest is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and registered attendees will receive an exclusive sticker at the event.
Organizers said activities will include a cosplay contest, ramen eating contest, food truck, crafts, fantasy drink café, video game tournament, special performances and a Mugicians performance, along with panels and other attractions.
Cosplay contest open to ages 12 and older
The cosplay contest is open to participants ages 12 and older. Individuals who do not wish to compete may instead take part in a Cosplay Catwalk, which will be held while judges deliberate and will allow individuals and families to showcase their costumes.
Participants may enter one of two categories:
- Beginner: Little to no cosplay experience. At least 50% of the cosplay must be handmade or altered.
- Experienced: Contestants who have participated in contests or have costuming experience. At least 75% of the cosplay must be handmade or altered.
Library officials said costumes and participant conduct must comply with library policies.

The second Fan Fest is sponsored by Museum Acrylics Company and The Friends of the Library NP.
