POP MART launches rare Derpy x Peach Riot plush

For collectors browsing POP MART, not knowing which character is inside the box is part of the experience. Add a familiar face from KPop Demon Hunters, and that uncertainty becomes particularly interesting. Derpy, the blue tiger recognizable from the Netflix film, is now the hidden find in a new plush collaboration.

The Peach Riot x KPop Demon Hunters release blends POP MART’s fictional band with the movie’s HUNTR/X trio. As The Pop Insider reported on October 28, the seven-design series includes six standard plush pendants and a secret version of Peach Riot’s Gigi dressed as Derpy. The official POP MART product listing places the US online launch at October 29, 2026, at 5 p.m. Pacific.

    Why the hidden Derpy matters

Derpy has become one of the recognizable nonhuman characters in KPop Demon Hunters. The animated film follows HUNTR/X, a fictional K-pop girl group whose performers also battle demons. The tiger is a distinct character, not a member of the band, which makes him a natural point of contrast when the group’s stage looks are translated into toys.

In this POP MART collection, Derpy is not one of the everyday figures on the shelf. The secret plush depicts Gigi, one of Peach Riot’s own characters, in a Derpy look. According to The Pop Insider, the stated chance of finding it is one in 72. That is a publisher-reported rarity for the series, not a guarantee about any individual purchase.

The choice sets up a familiar collector dynamic. Someone interested in the band-inspired styles can choose the series without knowing exactly which one they will receive. Someone seeking Derpy specifically has a harder target. The release offers a different way to engage with the character than a photo opportunity or a standard licensed plush.

How Peach Riot and HUNTR/X meet

POP MART’s Peach Riot lineup already has its own trio, Gigi, Frankie and Poppy. The collaboration casts Gigi in Rumi-inspired styles, Frankie as Zoey and Poppy as Mira. The designs draw on the HUNTR/X performances “How It’s Done” and “What It Sounds Like,” giving the toys recognizable stage-costume cues.

That matters because this is not simply a familiar movie logo attached to an unrelated product. POP MART is blending two fictional music groups in a way that lets their characters play roles from the film. Collectors who know Peach Riot can recognize the original figures, while viewers of KPop Demon Hunters can identify the costumes.

The combination also keeps both properties visible. The Peach Riot characters provide the shape of the toys, and the Netflix film supplies the new looks. As a result, the objects represent a crossover rather than replicas of the animated protagonists.

What the blind-box release actually offers

The series consists of six regular designs and one secret design. Buyers can select a single blind box or a whole set, though the specific outcome of any individual blind box is not guaranteed. The published US product price is US$29.99 per single box, and each plush pendant is roughly 16.5 centimeters tall.

The release date is also important to the coverage: POP MART listed its US online release for October 29 at 5 p.m. Pacific, while The Pop Insider covered the line on October 28. That means the collaboration is a newly available merchandise story rather than a concept announcement with no product date attached.

Notably, the available material does not say how many units are being produced, how many customers have purchased them or how the drop has performed. It would be a mistake to treat the one-in-72 chase rate as evidence of demand. What is verified is the design, release mechanics and stated rarity.

What marketers can learn from collectible crossovers

Physical fan experiences and physical collectibles can use the same character in very different ways. At a large Derpy installation, a fan’s interaction might be standing next to the tiger or photographing the set. In this blind-box series, the interaction is opening a package and discovering which version appears.

The Peach Riot collaboration also adds an identity layer. A toy can reference two different fictional music groups at once, giving the design more to communicate than a character portrait on ordinary packaging. That may be meaningful for buyers familiar with both properties, although the brands have not disclosed campaign performance.

For marketers considering licensed merchandise, the useful design question is whether the collaboration gives fans something new to recognize, play with or collect. POP MART’s answer is to transform one set of characters using another franchise’s stage looks and keep one unusually recognizable character as the hidden variant.

The wider lesson is about specificity. The most interesting tie-ins do not stop at placing a famous face on merchandise. They find a format, whether an event sculpture, a retail pop-up or a blind box, that lets the existing audience encounter that character in a different way.
