5 Star Wars Shows That Deserve More Episodes

We’ve been taken to just about every corner of the galaxy over the years, and it’s always a delight to go far, far away with the various heroes and villains of the Star Wars franchise.

However, while Disney continues to plot new adventures on the big and small screen, we can’t help but feel there’s still ground to be covered on some of the paths we’ve already taken. While Din Djarin and Baby Yoda took to the big screen in The Mandalorian and Grogu, a whole host of other Star Wars shows deserve to continue in some way, shape or form.

So, Disney, if you’re listening: here’s what we want more of in the following TV series, and where you – the fanbase – can stream them.

    Andor
    Andor

Andor was sublime from start to finish. So much so that it would almost be a shame to risk ruining all that by demanding more episodes; but when something is this good, it’s really hard not to want more, especially given the way Tony Gilroy was able to so adeptly mirror our society today in his depiction of the spread of tyranny in the galaxy. In many ways, Andor is one of the most important TV shows of our time.

The finale left us in a pretty definitive (and heartbreaking) spot, but there is still a small amount of story Gilroy and the crew could squeeze out of this one if they really wanted to – perhaps he could bring back Kino Loy? What about Dedra Meero’s rehabilitation (or lack thereof)? And, of course, Bix Caleen has a whole new life and purpose, which would be fascinating to explore. Given the quality of what was produced over 24 episodes, you just know they would smash it out of the park if they did go for more.

For various reasons – namely culture war controversy regarding the show’s diverse cast and crew and the way Leslye Hyland subverted the concept of the Force and the Jedi – The Acolyte was torn to shreds by large sections of the Star Wars fanbase upon its release. It certainly had its fair share of flaws, with some hit-and-miss acting and narrative threads missing the mark, but overall, this is still one of the most original Star Wars projects from the Disney era so far.

It would be a real shame if we never get to see more of The Acolyte. The show set up so many interesting ideas, like the impact of the flawed Jedi code and how it can lead its disciples down dark paths (just like we saw with Anakin in the prequel movies, but arguably with more nuance here). Qimir promised to be one of the most badass Star Wars villains of all time, and that mysterious cave-dweller was almost certainly our first live-action glimpse of the elusive Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis, aka Palpatine’s master. We need more!

    Star Wars: Visions
    Star Wars: Visions

The beauty of Star Wars is that there are just so many stories to tell, and a great way to dive into more of them without overusing existing characters is to keep making more of Star Wars: Visions. The animated anthology is perhaps the most creative and stunning collection of work in the galaxy, and there’s scope for endless episodes.

Not only is it a great platform for different storytellers and artists to come together from around the world, but Star Wars: Visions really feels free of any restrictive lore and continuity issues that sometimes hinder other projects. While it is ongoing, we would happily watch a whole season of Aardman alone!

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars
    Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Much like Andor, it would be fair to say that Star Wars: The Clone Wars understood the brief and delivered absolutely everything you could want from a Star Wars show. It would be very difficult to cram much more in without messing with the timeline a little bit, but you can guarantee that if they announced a new season, we’d all be Force Leaping for joy.

The dynamic between Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, in particular, was fascinating. Anakin is shown to be a complex character in the prequel movies, but The Clone Wars revealed to us that he was more than just a gifted Jedi; he was also a caring and very competent mentor. If you really want to dig deeper into the nuance behind the iconic character, there is no better place to do that than this animated series. It would be a delight to see more of his adventures with his rebellious apprentice. While the live-action Ahsoka series dissects that relationship a little more, it’ll never come close to what the animated show achieved.

    Star Wars Rebels
    Star Wars Rebels

Speaking of Ahsoka, we’ve now seen both Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren get the live-action treatment in the Disney+ show. They’ll be back for Season 2, but it’s just not the same as the magic those characters delivered in Star Wars: Rebels.

What we wouldn’t give to go back and enjoy some more adventures with the Ghost Crew. Very few characters in Star Wars history have been as fun, charming, and had the endearing bond that these guys shared, but what’s great aboutStar Wars: Rebels is that it’s not always light, episodic fluff. There are genuine moments of peril, incredible twists, and an underlying darkness to the show that simply doesn’t get enough credit.
