The Smith-Jones Family Foundation is once again looking out for the future of area teens by organizing a Sports Entertainment Career Expo during its annual pro basketball excursion
The event is geared toward children 16 years of age and younger, accompanied by an adult, and is designed to introduce them to the many career opportunities in the sports entertainment industry off the court. Positions are available in sales, concessions, security, marketing and much more.
Londell Smith of the Smith-Jones Family Foundation says the event will give young people an opportunity to learn about careers in sports entertainment.
Smith says seats are filling up fast for the Nov. 4 excursion to Detroit to see the 76ers versus the Pistons and participate in an exclusive panel discussion with game day staff.
Seats are $139 and include transportation, a ticket to the game with club-level seating, free concessions and the panel discussion on career opportunities in sports entertainment.
Twenty-five youths will be selected to participate in an exclusive on-court experience.
Smith says there is also an opportunity to sponsor a student’s participation in the event.
