A beautifully scented candle, an eye-catching lamp, or a well-curated bookshelf can add a touch of indulgence to daily life. It’s not about spending big. It’s about choosing everyday things that make life feel a little more special.
Making everyday spaces feel better
The appeal of everyday luxury lies in making familiar spaces feel more pleasant. “I spend so many hours at my desk that I wanted it to feel like a space I enjoy being in. So, I invested in a standing desk and a comfortable chair that would bring a more luxe look. The best part was that I could find options that fit within my budget,” shares Rahul Solanki, a tech professional.For Shreya Pandey, a communication officer, a secondhand barrister bookshelf became more than just a place to store books. She says, “Now I treat it like a display corner with all my souvenirs from travel, my grandmother’s china collection and photographs. It makes the room feel more wholesome.” Similarly, a projector can transform a blank wall into a home theatre, making an ordinary evening feel like an occasion. Viraj Mishra, a software engineer, says, “Buying a projector has changed how I spend evenings at home. Instead of casually watching something on my laptop, I now turn it into a proper movie night with friends. It feels like a small luxury, but one I use often.”

As people look for ways to make everyday routines feel more enjoyable, products like scented candles, diffusers, room sprays, bath salts and body oils are moving beyond the occasional indulgence. They are becoming part of how people create a mood, unwind and make time for themselves. Data scientist Dipti Aggarwal says scented candles make her evenings feel relaxed and calm after a long day at work. Over time, it has become a small ritual for her. “It changes the atmosphere and helps me switch off. I read, research and invest in different types of candles as it is my kind of self-care,” she shares.
For me, luxury is a good set of bedsheets, curtains that make the room feel warmer or an appliance that makes everyday chores easier. These are things I use regularly, so spending a little more on quality feels worthwhile
