MUMBAI: The TV orchard is getting a fresh fruit. Shemaroo is adding another channel to its bouquet, with Mango TV set to ripen into the broadcaster’s latest play in India’s still-buzzing linear television market.

Shemaroo <a href="https://comicvibe.com/ample-entertainment-unveils-youtube-push/” title=”Ample Entertainment unveils YouTube push”>Entertainment Ltd has received approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to launch Mango TV, a new Hindi non-news and current affairs television channel, further expanding its presence in India’s broadcasting landscape.

According to the ministry’s latest records, the permission covers both uplinking and downlinking of the channel, with GSAT-30 designated as the satellite for transmission.

The licence has been granted to Shemaroo Entertainment Limited, registered under the corporate identity number L67190MH2005PLC158288.

MIB records list the company’s directors as Sunil Bansal, CA Reeta Bharat Shah, Jai Maroo, Hiren Gada, Atul H. Maru, Raman H. Maroo, Abbas Ismail Contractor, Rajen Hemchand Gada and Kashmira Dedhia.

The approval clears the way for Shemaroo to distribute Mango TV as a Hindi-language non-news and current affairs channel. However, the ministry has not disclosed details regarding the channel’s programming strategy, content mix, genre positioning or launch timeline.

The move comes at a time when broadcasters are continuing to invest in traditional television even as they deepen their digital and streaming footprints. While connected TV and OTT platforms continue to gain traction, linear television remains a significant distribution platform, particularly for mass-market entertainment audiences.

Shemaroo already operates a portfolio of channels spanning movies, devotional programming and regional entertainment, alongside a sizeable presence in digital streaming, content syndication and intellectual property licensing.

The addition of Mango TV signals that broadcasters continue to see opportunities in expanding their linear offerings, betting that television and digital platforms can coexist as complementary distribution channels in India’s evolving media ecosystem.
