Already a creative multi-hyphenate, Shaboozey is well on his way to becoming a true renaissance man, announcing the impending release of his debut comic book.
On July 31st, Shaboozey will be releasing his fourth studio album, The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales. The follow-up to his breakthrough 2024 record Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, the album is already on track to be one of the most-anticipated country releases of the year, however, it’s just gotten even more exciting thanks to what will be coming alongside it.
Over the weekend, Shaboozey announced that the album will be complemented by the arrival of his debut comic book, succinctly titled The Outlaw Cherie Lee.
“The Outlaw Cherie Lee is more than just an album,” he wrote on social media, “I wanted to build an entire world around the music inspired by the freedom and grit of the Wild West and classic stories that we tell over and over again. I can’t wait for y’all to experience it!”
Available for pre-order now ahead of its instore launch on August 18th, Shaboozey’s webstore describes the book as a 40-page, full cover comic which details “the story of the Bootcut Boys and Sherif Lee”. Additionally, it appears there’s more issues to come, given it’s noted as the first of three.
The story was reportedly created alongside XaiDamien Hill is responsible for the immersive art
“This was like a dream I had as a kid,” Shaboozey said of the opportunity to pen a comic book. “I remember when I was nine years old, I tried to write my first story or write my first book, and I kinda put it down after the second page ’cause I was like, ‘Man, this is a lot of work.’
“But to see me actually, like, having a book 20 years later is crazy,” he added. “My young self would be pretty proud of me. Dang, it’s crazy.”
To celebrate its impending releaae, Shaboozey will also be heading to the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 24th, where he’ll be signing copies, and appearing as part of a live panel with content creator Juju Green (aka Straw Hat Goofy) for a live recording of the podcast Get Rec’d w/ Straw Hat Goofy.
