SAN DIEGO—Once again, more than 130,000 enthusiasts attended Comic-Con International—the largest pop culture event in the U.S. The four-day celebration, which took place July 23-26, covered all things comics, film, TV, and gaming, drawing creators, celebrities, and superfans from around the world.
TheSan Diego Convention Centerhosted panels, booths, and celeb sightings, with the event spreading beyond the convention hall into the Gaslamp District, nearby Petco Park, and more. Major players like Google Play, HBO Max, Hulu, FX, and Adult Swim activated all around the city.

The Funergy Playground was where guests could try to raise the Funergy Meter and trigger a digital slime waterfall. At the AI Slime Experience, guests could take a photo and choose a Nickelodeon-inspired slime effect: classic slime,SpongeBob-themed burgers,Avatar-inspired cabbages, orTMNT-inspired pizza. Wildwood’s Forest is Calling Portal Experience
Fans could enter the world ofWildwoodat Comic-Con before it hits theaters this fall. The Forest is Calling Portal Experience launched outside theHard Rock Hotelon July 23 and will move on to multiple cities across the U.S. Inspired by Colin Meloy’s novel and brought to life byLAIKA, the activation allowed fans to determine which faction of Wildwood denizens they would be part of in this enigmatic world. DC has joined forces with the Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA|TLC). After last year’s San Diego Comic-Con collaboration captured the hearts of fans, DC and GDA|TLC are launching a yearlong partnership, including a DC-sponsored litter of future guide and service dog superheroes. In a rare departure from their standard naming conventions, GDA|TLC allowed the litter to be named after iconic DC characters including Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo.
