According to media reports, the City of San Diego issued a $160,000 fine to Marvel Studios’ ad agency, Elevue Outdoor, for covering the City’s Gaslamp Quarter sign with advertising for Avengers Doomsday. Apparently, Elevue posted the advertising during Comic-Con, even though the City had previously had told the company that doing so was prohibited.

I know it’s way too late to be writing about SDCC ‘26 but just in case some wide-eyed child someday asks “Dad, what was San Diego Comic-Con 2026 like?” here are a few thoughts.
It’s objectively a huge, overwhelming room full of sweaty people lined up for brand activations, bad hot dogs and throwing money at overpriced toys with some comic book artists unceremoniously shoved in a corner. A corporate shell of what it once was, a way for companies to fleece the largest niche.
