Why Roblox stock is back in focus after the Build announcement

Roblox (RBLX) is drawing fresh attention after unveiling Build, a mobile-first creation tab with AI tools that turn simple text prompts into playable game prototypes inside the main Roblox app.

For investors, this move links the company’s core user generated content model more tightly to mobile devices, while expanding the range of people who can experiment with building and publishing experiences on the platform.

Roblox shares trade at US$52.50 after a recent 1-day share price decline of 1.41%, with the year to date share price return down 35.15% and the 1-year total shareholder return down 56.32%, while the 3-year total shareholder return remains positive.

If Roblox’s AI push has caught your attention, it can be useful to see what else is happening in the space by checking out 62 profitable AI stocks that aren’t just burning cash.

Recent volatility in Roblox stock reflects a tug of war between concern over safety related legal issues and optimism around AI fueled creation tools. How does the current valuation line up with that tension?

    Most Popular Narrative: 144.4% Overvalued

The most followed narrative on Roblox compares a fair value of $21.48 to the last close at $52.50, framing the stock as expensive relative to its modeled cash flows.

My realistic case would sit well below the $95.62 bull case, but still above the current price if Roblox executes reasonably well. That suggests the current stock has attractive but not screaming upside under a realistic case.

Want to see how this fair value is built? The narrative leans heavily on steady revenue growth, gradual margin lift and robust free cash flow assumptions. The tension between bookings, profit timing and share count sits at the core of the valuation story.

Result: Fair Value of $21.48 (OVERVALUED)

Have a read of the narrative in full and understand what’s behind the forecasts.

However, Roblox still faces safety related legal pressures, as well as high developer and infrastructure costs that could weigh on margins and challenge the current overvaluation thesis.

    Another View on Roblox’s Valuation

The user narrative argues Roblox is 144.4% overvalued at a fair value of $21.48, yet our DCF model points the other way, with a future cash flow value of $108.03 and the stock trading at a 51.4% discount. When two structured models disagree this sharply, which set of assumptions would you trust more?
