Redeeming Google Play Points could win you a vintage Spider-Man comic worth crazy money

Google is running a sweepstakes for the next few weeks, and participants stand to win some valuable prizes. Redeeming Play Points between now and the middle of September puts you in the running to win a trip to New York Comic Con or a vintage Spider-Man comic valued at more than $70,000, among other prizes.

Google announced the sweepstakes in a blog post today. The most interesting prize on offer is one sealed, graded copy of Marvel’s Amazing Fantasy #15, an issue from 1962 that marked the hero’s first appearance. And four entrants will win a trip for two to New York Comic Con, including flights and a four-night stay in Times Square.

The official terms for the contest estimate the value of the Amazing Fantasy comic, which comes with a CGC grade of 5.0/10, at a whopping $72,000. That feels right: copies of the same issue with lower grades are selling on eBay for tens of thousands of dollars. The Comic Con trips, meanwhile, are valued at $4,000 each.

There are plenty of less notable prizes, too, including Hot Toys figures of Batman, Superman, and Krypto; a translucent green, Post Malone Edition Backbone One controller that’s apparently one of 500 ever made; various Funko Pops; and free movie tickets to redeem at AMC theaters.

Each Play Point redeemed counts as one entry in the sweepstakes. Using more Play Points during the entry period (which started August 17) will net you progressively larger amounts of extra entries: spending 100 points gets you 105 entries; 1,000 points is good for 1,100 entries; and 10,000 points is worth 11,500 entries. If you manage to spend 50,000 points, you’ll get a whopping 10,000 extra entries for 60,000 total.

The sweepstakes is going through Monday, September 14. If you’re sitting on a bunch of Play Points, consider redeeming some of them in the next couple weeks.
