    Summary

    • Coming to XBOX with play anywhere on August 31, 2026.
    • Releasing with new puzzles and new mechanics.
    • Updates exclusive to XBOX for the first 2 weeks.

Exciting news for puzzle fans and XBOX players! I’m thrilled to announce that Puzzledorf, my chill and colourful puzzle game, will release on XBOX August 31. If you’re eager to try the game, grab the demo now, offering a sneak peek into what’s in store. You can also preorder or wishlist the full game on the XBOX store today.

    New Exclusive Content

With this release, Puzzledorfwill bring fresh content to XBOX players first. The game will debut brand new puzzles with fresh mechanics. You’ll get exclusive access to these puzzles for two weeks before they reach other platforms, making this launch a must-play event for those eager to explore the latest challenges before anyone else.

In the new Ruins puzzles, classic Sokoban gets a twist: match three jewels of the same colour to clear them. Clear all the jewels to complete a level. What’s more: when you push a jewel, it slides until it hits another object, creating an interesting setup for new ways of thinking.

In addition to new content, I’m adding achievements to deepen the XBOX experience. Accessibility is a top priority, with Puzzledorfdesigned to be approachable for all skill levels. Puzzledorfteaches you the skills you need through play, with a carefully tuned difficulty curve and a colourblind mode to ensure everyone can enjoy the game.

New languages will also be added at launch, starting with German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese and more, with other languages rolling out after release, broadening the game’s accessibility for a global audience.

    Method to the Madness

Designing levels for Puzzledorfis about finding that sweet spot between challenge and accessibility, creating moments of satisfaction that bring players back for “just one more.” To prototype quickly, I use Puzzlescript; a free, simple engine for block-pushing games, allowing rapid experimentation with different ideas.

To design a puzzle, I ask questions to spark ideas, such as, “What if I try a different level shape?” or “What if I put the block somewhere else?” Sometimes I just drop a few blocks down, try it, then shuffle their position until something unique stands out.

For example, in Puzzledorf, you need to move coloured blocks onto matching targets. Using multiple colours means you have to juggle blocks around each other, making things interesting. One puzzle idea that emerged was: “If I have a narrow passage, with different coloured blocks either side of the player, how would you swap them round?” And that became an interesting puzzle. You can see an example of the prototype and final level below.

    Design Insights and More

If you’re curious about Puzzledorf’s design process or development, check out my blog featuring articles on the game’s design journey and tutorials, including Puzzlescript. I hope you look forward to the full XBOX release coming on August 31. Try the demo today to get a taste of what’s in store, and pre-order or wishlist the full game to let us know you’re excited for the launch!

Stuck in Puzzledorf, the land of puzzles – will you find your way out?

With vibrant worlds and soothing melodies, Puzzledorf is a nostalgic pixel art trip to the 80’s. Puzzledorf has a gentle learning curve before it hits you with brain-breaking puzzles. Things that look simple at first will surprise you! 5 minutes to learn, hours of gameplay with satisfying puzzles.

Puzzledorf puts a twist on Classic Sokoban by adding multiple-coloured blocks instead of just one colour. This creates interesting puzzles where you need to navigate different coloured blocks past each other in tight spaces. You can also slide on the ice or be challenged by the new puzzles in The Ruins.

The Ruins mixes the block pushing of classic Sokoban with Match 3. In The Ruins, jewels slide until they hit another object, causing you to think in new ways. Players must use walls and other jewels to control where they stop, then match three jewels of the same colour to clear them from the puzzle.

The simple change creates a very different challenge from Puzzledorf’s classic puzzles, with players needing to think about not only where a jewel should go, but where it will stop and how each move affects the rest of the board.

A land of bright and colourful places awaits – will you make it out of the lava caverns?

    Includes:

    • Replayability: Achievements encourage you to go back and beat your best scores
    • Mirror Mode: flips every puzzle, tricking your brain so you can’t remember the solution
    • Accessibility: no timer, undo unlimited moves, colour blind options
    • Portability: Compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere and ROG XBOX Ally, so that you can play anywhere! And take your cloud saves with you!
