Invader Comics is bringing readers back to the dangerous world of The Digger, the indie hit from writer T.S. Luther and artist Sam Gudilin, with a new trade paperback collecting the complete four-issue miniseries. But that is not all. The release also introduces The Digger: Treasure Hunt, a two-player tabletop role-playing game that lets fans create their own pulp adventure inspired by the comic.
The Digger was Invader Comics’ first major hit of 2026, with all four issues selling out as soon as they arrived in comic shops. The series quickly became one of the year’s most sought-after independent titles, leaving some readers unable to track down every issue in stores or online. Now, fans can experience the entire story in one collection.
Set in 1930s Veracruz, Mexico, The Digger follows a young guide known as The Kid, who knows the location of hidden Olmec ruins and needs money to help his sick grandmother. When an American treasure hunter known as The Digger arrives, The Kid sees an opportunity. But the mysterious man has earned a fearsome reputation among local guides, and what begins as a partnership soon becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse.
The series has earned praise from comics outlets, with Nerd Initiative calling it a sign that
“the future of comic books is in good hands.”
Fanlight Zone described the series as a
while Comic Crusaders praised its stylish and satisfying approach to the story.
For readers who want to step into the adventure themselves, Luther has also teamed up with Jon Opra of Professional Entropy to create The Digger: Treasure Hunt. The two-player competitive storytelling RPG lets players take on the roles of aspiring treasure hunters, crafting their own stories of pulp adventure, danger and misadventure. Designed to capture the intrigue of the original comic, the game uses an Adventure Journal, a friend and a handful of six-sided dice. No shovels required.
With the complete comic story finally collected in one volume and a tabletop game expanding its world, The Digger is giving longtime fans another way to explore the series while welcoming readers who missed its original run.
