Internet trolls won’t have any luck making Anne Hathaway miserable.
After the Oscar winner stepped out at The End of Oak Street premiere in Burbank, Calif., on Aug. 9 wearing a baby bump-bearing outfit, she seemingly reacted to social media critics who said her belly didn’t look real.
“Fake hair, real bump,” Hathaway captioned an Aug. 10 Instagram video of herself getting ready for the event. “Enjoy The @endofoakstreet Block Party chaos with me as my outfit literally melts in the heat!!”
For the occasion, the Les Misérables star—who announced she was expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman in June—donned a light blue high-low cropped top that showed off her growing baby bump.
To complete her look, Hathaway wore a pair of low-rise blue jeans and red kitten heels to match the inside of the statement blouse.
And while some fashion lovers commented on the stunning look, others fixed their attention on her belly, with one critic commenting under a TikTok shared by <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@<a href="https://comicvibe.com/zee-entertainment-q1-results-net-profit-turns-positive-to/” title=”Zee Entertainment Q1 Results: Net profit turns positive to”>entertainmenttonight/video/7672202352404745502?q=anne%20hathaway&t=1786381503031″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Entertainment Tonight from the event, “Why does it look fake?”
Another chimed in, “It does look fake. There’s body makeup on it.”

But others sprang to the Princess Diaries alum’s defense.
“News flash people, not every bump looks the same,” one fan commented, while another added, “Can women exist, damn.”
But the look wouldn’t be the first in Hathaway’s maternity wardrobe to make waves. After all, she caused quite a stir in June when she stepped out accidentally wearing a bright red dress backwards.
But the 43-year-old had no problem fessing up to that fashion flub, saying in a July 1 Instagram video that included screenshots of articles pointing out the potential error, “I did?” before revealing her realization, “I did… I did.”
Aside from her viral maternity fashion, Hathaway—mom to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, with Shulman—recently shared insight into what has made this pregnancy so special.
“It’s amazing,” she said during her July 14 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I mean, we knew what we were doing but we were so shocked it worked!”
And while The Odyssey actress admitted she and Shulman were surprised it “went this way” despite their knowledge of the birds and the bees, they couldn’t be happier to welcome their “buzzer beater” baby.
