Pokimane has explained why she brought up Atrioc’s 2023 deepfake controversy again, prompting a response from the streamer after she expressed discomfort over his presence at Ludwig and QTCinderella’s wedding.
Atrioc faced widespread backlash in January 2023 after accidentally revealing a website featuring explicit AI-generated images of female streamers, including Pokimane, during a livestream.
Although he subsequently apologized and spent thousands of dollars helping remove deepfake content from the internet, Pokimane has explained that the incident continues to affect her, particularly as Atrioc becomes more involved with people close to her.
During an October 25 livestream, Pokimane said seeing Atrioc’s name or face still causes her “a lot of discomfort and anxiety,” prompting renewed discussion about the controversy.
Pokimane admits she felt a way seeing Atrioc at Ludwig’s wedding around her close friends
“There’s been a lot of cognitive dissonance seeing my friends be put in close proximity of him.. It makes me feel some type of way, I can’t lie.. Do they agree with me or do they not?” pic.twitter.com/A2Anqi0b63

In a statement on October 26, Pokimane reminded followers that she was directly affected by the original incident and explained why she had largely remained silent at the time.
“When he was first caught looking at paywalled, deepfake content of female streamers, it seems people forgot that the specific page shown on his stream was of me,” she wrote.
“I didn’t say much at the time because I was so uncomfortable, publicly humiliated, and I didn’t think it needed explaining because it was so obviously wrong.”

She also acknowledged Atrioc’s efforts to remove deepfake content, revealing that he had offered her $3,000 toward the process, but claimed she had personally spent hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting the same issue.
“Regardless, no amount of money undoes what happened,” she added.
Pokimane stressed that she wasn’t attempting to cancel Atrioc or dictate who others could associate with, but wanted to share how the incident continues to affect her.
