PlayStation 5’s New PS5 Pro-Like Feature Is Perfect for GTA VI

PlayStation 5 is rolling out a new PS5 Pro-like upscaling feature, and it comes just in time for GTA VI‘s launch. PS5’s Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) has already been implemented in two first-party games, and the results are better than we expected.

GTA VI could benefit greatly from PlayStation’s QSSR and PSSR tech

Following QSSR’s initial launch yesterday, tech experts at Digital Foundry tested the upscaler out and came away impressed. The outlet noted that QSSR works well and showcased a noticeable difference in Marvel’s Wolverine’s image quality with the upscaler turned on.

“The potential here is remarkable: low resolution and poor upscaling have impacted so many titles in this generation, but QSSR could make a big difference,” Digital Foundry wrote. “In Marvel’s Wolverine especially, the quality boost can be exceptional.”

Although the decision to implement PSSR and QSSR in GTA VI is up to Rockstar Games, we don’t see why the studio wouldn’t. Sony struck a GTA VI marketing deal with Rockstar Games, and the QSSR/PSSR quality boost makes for perfect promotional material.

QSSR has not been offered to third-party developers yet, but Sony says that it will soon become available to all PlayStation devs.

GTA VI will launch on November 19, 2026.
