The ongoing global PS5 Pro stock shortage will last beyond the holiday 2026 season, if a new rumor is to be believed. The console has been out of stock at major retailers and Sony‘s online storefront, PS Direct, with random inventory drops. A fresh report claims that Sony has communicated the supply constraint to its distribution partners.
PS5 Pro stock shortage by GTA 6’s November 2026 launch
German outlet Playfront.de claims to have obtained a memo Sony sent to distributors, in which the company blamed “temporary market supply constraints and high demand” for lack of adequate PS5 Pro inventory. In the same memo, Sony warned that the situation will last “through early 2027 at the earliest.”
Players have been facing difficulty finding PS5 Pro consoles ever since Sony began promoting Grand Theft Auto VI in collaboration with Rockstar Games. The pricey hardware is apparently “the best place to play” GTA VI — a phrase both companies have used in marketing and promotional materials for this generation’s most anticipated title.
While I do expect PS5 Pro to be restocked between now and early 2027, I do believe inventory will be limited. Those who are interested in picking up the console should grab it at the first opportunity to avoid disappointment.
